The Zero Breeze Mark 2 is a battery-powered portable air conditioner built around a real compressor — not a swamp cooler or thermoelectric fan. The unit weighs 16.5 lb and measures 20 × 10 × 11 inches — small enough to fit in a rooftop tent, van sleeping area, or small trailer bunk. Dual-hose design runs a separate duct for intake and exhaust, which matters in enclosed spaces: single-hose units depressurize the space and pull hot outside air in around seals; the Mark 2 doesn't have that problem.
Power options are flexible. The Mark 2 Battery (24V 35Ah, 840Wh) clips directly to the unit and runs it for roughly 3–5 hours depending on mode and conditions. The battery can also charge via solar, vehicle outlet, or AC adapter — input range is 18–36V DC, recommended 21–27V. If you're running a larger power station, the 12V to 24V Converter (sold separately) lets you draw from the station's DC output directly rather than through its inverter. The Mark 2 also doubles as a small power hub when the battery is attached: USB-C PD (45W), USB-A, and 12V DC output for camp accessories.
Realistic expectations: 2,300 BTU will make a well-insulated, well-sealed small space meaningfully cooler. It will struggle in a large, poorly insulated space, a tent with leaky seams, or direct midday desert sun on thin fabric. The unit works; the space needs to cooperate. Noise is rated 52 dB(A) — audible but not intrusive in an outdoor sleeping context.

How long does the Mark 2 Battery last on a single charge?
Approximately 3–5 hours in typical cooling use, depending on mode and ambient temperature. In Rocket (full) mode at 240W draw, a single 840Wh battery runs roughly 3–3.5 hours. In Sleep mode (120W), closer to 6–7 hours. Real-world runtime varies with ambient temperature, insulation quality, and how often the compressor cycles. Two batteries (Plus Extra package) effectively doubles overnight capacity.
What space can the Mark 2 actually cool?
Effectively: a well-insulated, tightly sealed sleeping space up to about 60–80 sq ft. A one- or two-person rooftop tent, a van sleeping area, or a small trailer bunk with good insulation. The 2,300 BTU output is not enough for a poorly insulated large tent or an open space — the cooled air escapes as fast as the unit produces it. Insulation and sealing matter more than floor area; a small tent with leaky door seams will disappoint.
Do I need the 12V to 24V Converter, or does the Mark 2 run from 12V directly?
The Mark 2 requires 24V input. It does not run from 12V directly. If you want to power it from a 12V vehicle battery or a power station's DC output, you need the Zero Breeze 12V to 24V Converter (sold separately). The converter is not required if you're using the Mark 2 Battery or an AC adapter with shore power.
What's the difference between Basic, Plus, and Plus Extra?
The AC unit is the same across all packages. Basic includes the AC unit with AC adapter, hoses, and hardware — no battery. Plus adds one Mark 2 Battery (840Wh). Plus Extra adds two Mark 2 Batteries for extended off-grid runtime. If you already have a compatible power source (large power station, solar + 12V/24V converter), Basic may be sufficient. The battery package makes more sense for standalone off-grid use.
Can I charge the Mark 2 Battery with solar?
Yes. The battery accepts 18–36V DC input (recommended 21–27V), which matches the output range of common portable solar panels. A 100W–200W panel in good sun conditions can partially or fully offset the Mark 2's draw during the day while maintaining charge for overnight use.
How does the dual-hose design matter?
Single-hose portable AC units pull room air through the unit and exhaust it outside — creating negative pressure inside the space and drawing in warm outside air around doors and seams. The Mark 2's dual-hose design has a separate intake duct that pulls outside air for the condenser, so the room air stays inside and doesn't need to be constantly replaced with warm air. In a small sealed sleeping space, this is a significant efficiency difference.
Is the Mark 2 loud enough to be a sleep issue?
The rated sound level is 52 dB(A) in cooling mode. That's comparable to a quiet desk fan — audible, but most people find it a non-issue for sleeping, especially outdoors where ambient noise is present. Sleep mode runs quieter at lower power. If you're extremely sound-sensitive, it's worth noting; for most users it's not a complaint.
