The UC Gear LED Magnet Light is a compact dual-color work and camp light with a strong magnet on the back. Is it rechargeable, or do I need batteries?
Both. It has a USB-rechargeable lithium battery for everyday use, and it also runs on three AAA cells as a field backup if you can't reach a charger. The AAA cells are not included.
How long does a charge last?
Up to 60 hours, but that depends on the mode. Dim white and the red modes draw far less than full bright white, so you'll get the long end of that range running low. Full white is the shortest.
Why does it have a red light?
Red preserves your night vision, so you can find gear around camp without blowing out your eyes the way white light does. The blinking red mode works as a marker — stick it on the back of your rig or at your campsite so people can find you in the dark.
Will the magnet hold on my vehicle?
The magnet grabs steel — fenders, tailgates, hoods, tow hitches, generator frames. It will not stick to aluminum or fiberglass panels. For those, and for trees or tent poles, use the built-in elastic shock cord instead.
Can I leave it out in the rain?
Yes. It's IPX5-rated, which covers rain and spray from any direction. That is splash protection, not submersion — don't drop it in the creek or leave it sitting in standing water.
