TRUKD T Series Double Decker Bed Rack Configuration
The Double Decker is TRUKD's maximum-capacity T Series configuration — 24.5" uprights, two full levels of mounting space, built in Pittsburgh from 10-gauge 304 stainless steel and aerospace-grade aluminum.
Upper tier is sized for a rooftop tent and awning. Lower tier handles the rest: hard cases, water jerry cans, Rotopax fuel cells, camp tables and chairs. Both levels run on the same T-slot extrusion channels, so traction boards, MOLLE accessories, and antenna mounts integrate with the same hardware. You're not bolting a rack to your truck — you're adding a modular platform that evolves as your kit does.
Load ratings: 300 lb/set (150 lb/bar) driving, 1,000 lb total (500 lb/bar) parked. The uprights are welded steel; the bars won't flex with an RTT at 70 mph. Install is about 3.5 hours with SAE hand tools only — no power tools, no metric. Step 7 (lifting the assembled rack onto the bed) benefits from a second set of hands. T-Slot variant works with retractable tonneau covers only (Retrax, Roll'n'Lock — max width 69.75"). If you run a BakFlip or other tri-fold, choose Utility Rails or Bed Clamps.

Use cases
Double Decker owners are running RTT + awning on the upper tier with a full lower deck of Pelican cases and fuel for remote trips. The T-Slot variant lets you keep a retractable tonneau cover fully functional beneath the rack — bed security for the daily, roof platform for the weekend. The T-slot extrusion channels on every bar accept MOLLE hardware, Rotopax mounts, antenna brackets, and more without drilling.

Which tonneau covers work with the T-Slot mount?
Retractable covers only — Retrax and Roll'n'Lock are the confirmed compatible brands. The T-Slot mount slides into the cover's existing channel, so the tonneau stays fully functional under the rack. Maximum tonneau width: 69.75".
Tri-fold and hard-folding covers (BakFlip, Extang, UnderCover Flex, etc.) are not compatible with T-Slot. If you have one of those, select Utility Rails (stake-pocket mount) or Bed Clamps instead.
What's the difference between Utility Rails, T-Slot, and Bed Clamps?
Utility Rails use your truck's factory bed rail stake pockets — clean install, no drilling, and the rack sits above any existing bed liner. Available on: Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Tundra, Jeep Gladiator, Nissan Frontier, Nissan Titan.
T-Slot Tonneau Cover mounts into the T-slot channels of a retractable tonneau, keeping it operational beneath the rack. Available on all 13 fitments.
Bed Clamps clamp directly to the top of the bed walls — good if you don't have stake pockets and don't run a retractable tonneau. Available on most fitments except Toyota Tacoma.
How's highway stability with a rooftop tent — any bounce or flex?
The T Series uprights are 10-gauge welded stainless; the system doesn't flex the way thinner tube racks can. Rated 300 lb/set driving, 150 lb per bar, so a typical 100–150 lb RTT is well within spec on one bar. Dynamic flex is more commonly a function of the RTT's profile (a tall, soft-sided tent acts like a sail) than the rack itself. Don't exceed 150 lb per bar at speed and you're in spec.
How hard is the install? Can I do it myself?
Plan for about 3.5 hours. You'll need SAE hand tools only — Hex Drivers 5/32 and 7/32, a 9/16" and 1/2" socket wrench, and a tape measure. No power tools and no metric tools — the install guide is explicit on both. No drilling into the truck.
Step 7 (lifting the assembled rack onto the bed as a single unit) is doable solo but TRUKD recommends a second set of hands to avoid damage to the rack or personal injury. Plan for that. If you're running T-Slot, you'll also likely need to pull the tonneau cover off to mount the brackets, then reinstall it.

How does the Double Decker compare to the standard T Series configurations?
The standard T Series comes in 6.5"–18.5" upright heights — single-level platforms. The Double Decker uses 24.5" uprights (18" base + 6" riser) and adds a dedicated second deck with its own crossbars and mounting brackets. If you're running one RTT and don't need substantial lower-tier storage, the 12.5" or 18.5" T Series is lighter and sits lower. If you want two fully independent loading levels — RTT up top, full gear rack below — the Double Decker is the configuration.
