Use cases
The Dual 1400 suits two-person overlanding where a full tent is more than you want to pitch. It rides on a roof, bed, or trailer rack with bedding rolled inside, so camp setup takes minutes. Because it stands on its own, it drops straight onto a cot for off-ground sleeping, and it works across seasons when you match your sleeping bags to the night's low.

How many people does the Dual 1400 fit?
Two adults. At 55 inches wide and 85 inches long inside, two sleep side by side. It's comfortable with quilts; two bulky mummy bags make it snug, so pack accordingly. One person gets a lot of room to spread out.
Does it really stand on its own?
Yes. The 9.5mm stainless arch poles and trigger-lock ridge pole make it free-standing, so it holds its shape without stakes in normal conditions. Stake it down when it's windy. The free-standing design also lets you set it on a camp cot for off-ground sleeping.
Is it waterproof?
Yes. The shell is 400gsm proofed canvas over a 550gsm HF-welded PVC bucket floor, with seam-sealed construction and full zip-down storm covers. Re-proof the canvas every few seasons of heavy use to keep it shedding water.
Does it get condensation?
It can. Any canvas swag collects condensation when two warm bodies meet cold outside air, and one humid night can leave moisture under the mattress. Crack the mesh ends or an entry for cross-flow and it clears fast. Lift and air the mattress in the morning after a damp night.
How big is it packed, and where do I store it?
It rolls to about 57 inches long by 16 inches across and weighs roughly 35 pounds. That's a big roll that can fill a backseat, so it rides best on a roof rack, bed rack, or trailer rack rather than loose in the cab. You can leave bedding rolled up inside between trips.
How long does it take to set up?
About five minutes. It's free-standing, so you roll it out, snap in the stainless arch poles, and set the adjustable ridge pole — no ladder, no separate footprint. Two people pitch it even faster.
Can I use it in winter?
Yes, with the right bags. The canvas breathes and the 70mm foam mattress insulates two sleepers from the cold ground, but the mattress alone isn't a full cold-weather sleep system. Match your bags to the overnight low, and don't pack it away wet — dry the canvas within a day or two to keep mildew off.
