Which size should I get, Medium or Large?

Medium (20 x 15 x 3 in) holds a couple of adult pairs and packs the flattest. Large (22 x 17 x 5 in) takes bulky hiking boots, sandals, and a kid's pairs together. Go Large if you run a family tent or wear winter boots.

Will it keep mud and water off my clean gear?
