The HD Hitch Tradesman II is a 2-point quick-release bracket kit for mounting a pull-out awning or accessory to your roof rack. The kit gives you two mounting points and a 40 kg total load rating (20 kg per point). It suits awnings and accessories with 40-52 mm spine track spacing, and ships with stainless steel M8 fasteners that drop into either M6 or M8 drill holes on the rack or the accessory bracket.
This is the HD class, built for pull-out awnings, shower tents, conduit tubes, and some wing awnings. It is not for big 180/270/360 wing awnings — those run on the XD Hitch. If you need a third mounting point or want to carry 60 kg, step up to the Tradesman III; the Tradesman II is the 2-point, 40 kg setup. The hitch bodies are UV-stabilised glass-reinforced nylon, so they hold up to sun and weather without corroding.
What sets the Tradesman II apart from the plain HD Hitch Standard is the bundle: it includes a set of HD Wall Mounts and HD Holders so you can hang the awning on a garage wall between trips, plus 2 Prop Cleats that let a pull-out awning stand freestanding once it is pitched off the vehicle. Two. The Tradesman II gives you two mounting points and a 40 kg total load limit (20 kg per point). If you need three points or up to 60 kg, the Tradesman III is the next step.
Will it fit my awning?
It fits pull-out awnings, shower tents, conduit tubes, and some wing awnings with 40-52 mm spine track spacing. Large 180, 270, or 360 wing awnings are a different class and need the XD Hitch instead.
Do I have to drill, and what fasteners are included?
Yes, you bolt the hitch halves to the rack and to the accessory bracket. The kit comes with stainless steel M8 fasteners that fit both M6 and M8 drill holes, so it works with most existing brackets.
How fast is the quick release once it is installed?
Under 10 seconds, with no tools. After the one-time install, the awning lifts on and off the two points by hand.
What torque should I use, and can I use a drill?
Torque the M6 bolts to 5 N·m and the M8 bolts to 6 N·m. Do not use a power drill to final-torque them; the hitch bodies are nylon and over-tightening can damage them.
