Midland 3 dB Gain Bullbar Antenna [B]
Midland 3 dB Gain Bullbar Antenna [B]
Bring unprecedented GMRS two-way radio range to any adventure with The Canyon Edge. The Canyon Edge is 28 inches tall, mounts on a 1/2 inch hole, and is built with durable fiberglass strong enough to tackle the toughest trails. With a lower dB, The Canyon Edge casts a taller signal, making communication clearer when encountering heavily obstructed environments such as cities, dense forests, and mountains. Frequency Range: 462.5500 - 467.7250 MHz

Overview
The Midland MXAT03 Canyon Edge is a 28-inch, 3 dB fiberglass GMRS antenna with a stainless spring base and a 19.5 ft cable, tuned for hilly, wooded, and mountain terrain where a taller signal pattern matters more than raw open-ground range.
Key features
- 3 dB gain on the 462–468 MHz GMRS band, built for Midland MXT-series MicroMobile radios.
- 28-inch heavy-duty fiberglass whip on a stainless-steel spring base that flexes off branch strikes.
- 19.5 ft coax cable terminating in a UHF male (PL-259) connector.
- Mounts in a single 0.5-inch hole (bull-bar mount sold separately).
- Taller radiation pattern reaches over ridgelines and into valleys that flatten higher-gain antennas.
Use cases
Built for overland and off-road convoy comms in terrain that breaks line of sight — wooded two-tracks, switchback climbs, and canyon descents. The 3 dB pattern keeps trucks talking when the route dips below ridge level, where higher-gain antennas tend to drop the signal.

Which radios does this work with?
It is built for Midland MXT-series GMRS MicroMobile radios and runs the 462–468 MHz GMRS band. The cable ends in a UHF male (PL-259) connector.
Why 3 dB instead of 6 dB or higher?
Lower gain radiates a taller signal pattern; higher gain flattens it to push range across open ground. The 3 dB Canyon Edge is the pick for hills, dense forest, and mountains, where a flat high-gain beam shoots over ridgelines and into dead spots. Midland recommends 3–6 dB for most overland use.
Does it come with a mount?
No. You get the antenna, the stainless spring base, and the 19.5 ft cable. It needs a 0.5-inch mounting hole; the bull-bar mount is sold separately.
How long is the cable?
19.5 feet of coax — enough to route from a front bull bar through the firewall to a cab-mounted radio.
Where should I mount it for the best range?
As high as practical, but keep the base below the roof line so the pattern works the way it should, and route the cable through the firewall. Mounting height drives range more than the gain number does.
Will it survive the trail?
The fiberglass whip and stainless spring base are made to take branch strikes — the spring lets the antenna flex and snap back instead of breaking off.
