Overview
The MAXTRAX Xtreme is the heavy-duty board in the MAXTRAX range, built for rigs over 10,000 lb and people who recover often. It shares the MKII's size and 88-tooth layout but swaps in all-alloy, replaceable teeth.
Key features
- 88 hard-anodized alloy teeth, every one replaceable with a T-50 Torx bit
- Engineering-grade fiber-reinforced nylon body, UV-stabilized
- Rated to roughly 9,920 lb (4,500 kg) per board
- Six built-in carry handles plus a shovel face at each end
- Works in sand, mud, snow, slush, and pea gravel
- Compatible with MAXTRAX Universal Mounting Pins (M8 stud)
Use cases
Buyers run these on heavy overland builds and on rigs that see a lot of recoveries, where nylon teeth wear down faster than they like. The board digs under a stuck tire, the teeth grab tread and ground at once, and the rig rolls out of sand, snow, or mud under its own power.

How is the Xtreme different from the MKII boards?
Same length, width, and 88-tooth layout as the MKII, and the same nylon body. The difference is the teeth: the Xtreme's are all alloy and replaceable, while the MKII's are molded nylon. The Xtreme is the pick for heavier rigs and frequent recoveries.
How much vehicle weight can one board handle?
Each board is rated to about 9,920 lb (4,500 kg). It is the right choice for rigs over 10,000 lb or anyone who recovers often enough to wear teeth down.
Will these work in snow and mud, or just sand?
All of it. They are tested in sand, snow, mud, slush, and pea gravel. The alloy teeth bite the tire tread and the ground at the same time for grip across surfaces.
What do I do if a tooth breaks?
Flip the board over, back the damaged tooth out with a T-50 Torx bit, and thread in a replacement. No special tools and no shipping the board back.
How do I use them without wrecking the teeth?
Dig enough that the board sits under the tire with the teeth touching the tread, then ease onto it. Do not spin your wheels on the board. Spinning burns the teeth off and voids the warranty.
Will the orange fade?
The nylon is UV-stabilized, but color can fade after years of constant sun. Signature orange stays the most visible MAXTRAX color, which helps when you are marking a stuck rig.
How do I keep them in good shape?
The anodized teeth resist corrosion in salt water and mud. Rinse the boards after beach or mud use and store them out of constant direct sun.
