The MAXTRAX Winch Ring 120 is a 120mm (about 4.7 in) recovery ring machined from 6061 billet aluminium, with a 12,500 kg (27,557 lb) working load limit and a destructive break load tested to 62,508 kg (137,806 lb). It weighs 620g, so it rides in a recovery bag without adding the bulk of a steel snatch block. The body is polished, brushed, and anodised for corrosion protection.
Loop a soft shackle through the ring, anchor it to a tree-trunk protector or recovery point, and you can do two things a straight winch pull can't. Redirect the line around an off-angle anchor to pull a stuck rig straight, or run a double-line pull to roughly double your effective pulling power. There are no moving parts to jam, freeze, or rust. The trade-off is friction: synthetic rope slides over the ring instead of rolling on a sheave, so a double-line pull moves at about half line speed.
This is synthetic-line gear only. Use it with soft shackles and synthetic winch rope, never steel cable, which would gouge the ring. MAXTRAX designs, engineers, and tests the ring in Australia, and x-rays each one for internal inclusions before it ships.

Does the ring really double my winch's pulling power?
Run through a double-line pull, it can roughly double your effective pulling power. The trade-off is that it uses twice the rope and moves at about half the line speed.
Can I use it with steel winch cable?
No. The ring is for synthetic winch rope and soft shackles only. Steel cable will gouge the aluminium and is unsafe in this setup.
How is a ring different from a snatch block?
A ring has no moving parts to jam, freeze, or rust, and it's lighter. The rope slides over the ring instead of rolling on a pulley, so there's more friction than a sheave block.
What's the difference between the WLL and the break load?
The working load limit is 12,500 kg (27,557 lb), the rated safe load for repeated use. The 62,508 kg (137,806 lb) figure is a one-time destructive break-load test, not a working number.
How do I attach it to an anchor?
Loop a soft shackle through the ring and around a tree-trunk protector or recovery point. Feed your winch rope over the ring and back to your vehicle's recovery point.
Will it corrode?
The anodised 6061 aluminium resists corrosion well. After a muddy or salty recovery, rinse it off and let it dry before it goes back in the bag.
