MaxTrax MkII Traction Boards — Gunmetal Grey (Pair)
MaxTrax MkII Traction Boards — Gunmetal Grey (Pair)
The MaxTrax MkII is the original recovery board, sold here as a pair in gunmetal grey. Each board measures 45 x 13 x 3.5 inches and weighs 7.5 lb, so the set runs about 15 lb. They are molded from UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon and rated to roughly 9,900 lb — enough margin for most trucks, vans, and loaded overland rigs sitting in the 6,000 lb range.
Recovery is simple: clear the soft stuff with the shovel ends, wedge a board under each drive tire, and idle out. No winch, no anchor point, no second vehicle. The rugged teeth bite into your tread while the board floats the tire on a firm base, and the double-edged shape makes the boards easy to slide into place. Six built-in handles spread the weight for one-hand carries, and the pair nests to just 3.5 inches tall for storage.
Keyhole accessory points let you lock the boards to a roof rack or spare-tire mount with MaxTrax mounting pins (sold separately). The gunmetal grey finish keeps the kit low-key — recovery capability without the safety-orange billboard on your rack.

Is this one board or a pair?
It is a pair — two boards. SKU MTX02GG is the standard MaxTrax MkII set.
How much vehicle can these handle?
They are rated to roughly 9,900 lb and are comfortable with rigs in the 6,000 lb range, including loaded trucks and vans.
What's the one thing I shouldn't do?
Don't spin your wheels. Spinning burns the teeth off the top of the boards and voids the warranty. Apply light throttle and idle out slowly.
Will the sun ruin them?
The nylon is UV-stabilized, so they hold up to regular outdoor use. Years of full-time sun will eventually fade the color, so store them out of direct sun when you can.
How do I carry and mount them?
Stow them inside in a bag, strap them to a spare-tire harness, or roof-mount them through the keyhole accessory points with MaxTrax mounting pins (sold separately).
Can I use them when towing?
Yes. For heavy towing, a second pair helps so the trailer tires get traction on their own set of boards.
