MaxTrax Lite Recovery Boards (Pair, Black)
MaxTrax Lite Recovery Boards (Pair, Black)
The MAXTRAX Lite is a pair of recovery boards built for lighter rigs and the driver who wants real traction without the weight or price of the full-size Mk2. Each board is 35 in long with 66 teeth, and the set weighs 7.8 lb total. That is 48 percent lighter and 22 percent shorter than the Mk2, which makes the Lite easy to mount on a small SUV, a dual-cab, or a roof basket where every pound counts.
The pair is rated to 7,700 lb (3,500 kg per board) and molded from impact-resistant thermoplastic. Four handles per board make them easy to grab, carry, and wedge under a buried tire, and the pin holes double as linking points so you can stack same-length boards for storage. Two leashes are included for pulling the boards back out once you have driven off them.
This is the budget tier of the MAXTRAX range, so know the trade-off going in: the shorter board has a smaller footprint than the Mk2, which matters in deep ruts or soft sand under a heavy rig. For an everyday driver, a smaller 4WD, or your first set of boards, the Lite covers the recovery you will actually run into. Mounting pins and a carry bag are sold separately. Lifetime warranty.

Is this a single board or a pair?
It is a pair — two boards plus two leashes. Mounting pins and a carry bag are sold separately.
How is the Lite different from the Mk2?
The Lite is 48 percent lighter and 22 percent shorter (35 in vs the full-size boards), rated to 7,700 lb per pair, and molded from impact-resistant thermoplastic instead of the Mk2 nylon blend. It is the budget tier of the range, priced well under the Mk2.
Will the Lite work for a heavier 4WD?
It works, but the shorter board has a smaller footprint. For a heavy rig stuck in deep sand or deep ruts, the longer Mk2 gives you more traction surface. For lighter rigs and occasional recovery, the Lite is the right call.
What is it rated to?
7,700 lb per pair, which is 3,500 kg per board.
Do I need mounting pins or a carry bag?
The leashes are included, but mounting pins and a carry bag are sold separately. The pin holes also double as linking points so you can stack same-length boards.
Can I stack these with my Mk2 boards?
No. Only same-length MAXTRAX boards stack together. The Lite is 895 mm and the Mk2 is longer, so the two will not nest.
How do I keep from chewing up the teeth?
Ease onto the boards at idle and let the teeth do the work — do not floor it. Spinning the tires can glaze or melt the teeth. Recover at low throttle and they will last for years.
