FireCan Rocks
FireCan Rocks
FireCan Rocks are 5 lb of natural tumbled lava stone sized specifically for Ignik FireCan portable fire pits. They sit inside the firebox around the burner and do two things: absorb heat while the gas is running, then radiate it back after the flame is off — extending warmth past shutdown. They also break up the raw propane flame into a more natural-looking pattern, closer to a wood fire than an open gas jet.
The rocks pack inside the FireCan body for transport, so they don't add a separate bag or container to your kit. They're compatible with all FireCan models — the base FireCan, the Deluxe, and the Elite. Lava stone handles repeated heat cycling without cracking; some color variation between individual rocks is normal.

Overview
Natural tumbled lava stones for Ignik FireCan fire pits. 5 lb, fits all FireCan models. Improves heat retention after shutdown and creates a more natural flame pattern.
Key features
- 5 lb natural lava stone — fits all FireCan fire pits (base, Deluxe, Elite); sized for proper airflow around the burner
- Extended heat retention — absorbs heat during operation, continues radiating warmth after gas shuts off
- More natural flame appearance — breaks up open propane jet into realistic wood-fire-style flame pattern
- Pack-inside storage — stones store inside the FireCan body for transport; no separate bag needed
- Heat-stable — lava stone handles repeated high-temperature cycling without cracking or deteriorating
Use cases
Drop-in upgrade for any FireCan owner. Particularly useful on cool evenings when you want the fire pit to keep radiating after you turn the gas down or off, and for anyone who finds raw propane flame aesthetically flat compared to a wood fire. The 5 lb weight is already accounted for if you're weighing your pack-out against the 2948g listed variant weight.

Which FireCan models do these rocks fit?
All of them — the base FireCan, the FireCan Deluxe, and the FireCan Elite. All three share the same ammo-can footprint (12 × 6 × 7.5 in), so the 5 lb set is sized to fit any of them with proper gas flow around the burner.
Do the rocks reduce the BTU output?
No — they don't restrict the burner. The rocks are positioned around the burner ports, not over them, to maintain proper gas flow. What they change is how that heat behaves: more of it radiates outward from the thermal mass rather than going straight up as convective heat.
How do I pack them?
They store inside the FireCan body with the lid closed for transport. Let them cool completely before handling and packing — they retain heat for a significant time after shutoff, longer than the metal body of the unit.
Will they crack from heating and cooling?
Lava stone is inherently porous and designed to handle thermal cycling — it's the same material used in permanent gas fire pits and outdoor heaters. Normal repeated use won't crack or degrade them. Some color darkening over time from use is normal.
Do they affect the burn-ban status of the FireCan?
No. The FireCan is propane regardless of whether rocks are installed. Burn-ban compliance is a function of the fuel type (propane, no embers) and local regulations — the rocks don't change any of that.
