Accessory Panel Hinge Kit
Accessory Panel Hinge Kit
The TRUKD Accessory Panel Hinge Kit converts any TRUKD V2 accessory panel into a gas-strut-assisted hinged panel that swings up and out of the way for full bed access. Two pre-assembled hinges — one left, one right — bolt to the rack upright in place of the standard faceplates. Gas struts hold the open panel at up to 80 lbs. Integrated latches and silent hardware keep it rattle-free on the trail.
The hinge position is length-adjustable along the upright for optimum clearance with tonneau covers. Fits 18.5" and 12.5" upright heights, in both A Series and T Series rack generations. The accessory panel itself is sold separately — select the correct panel SKU for your upright height and series. Pairs with Agency 6 Grab Handles for single-hand open-and-close. 3/16" 5052 aluminum, textured black powder coat. Made in Pittsburgh, PA.

- Fits 18.5" and 12.5" uprights, A Series and T Series — panel sold separately
Use cases
Buyers who load their accessory panel with gear (traction board, RotopaX, Hi-Lift) and still need regular bed access without unloading. The hinged panel swings the full load up and clear, then latches closed for travel. Also used with tonneau cover setups where the standard fixed panel would conflict with the cover's swing path.

Does the accessory panel come with this kit?
No — the Hinge Kit includes the two pre-assembled hinges and the attachment hardware only. The V2 accessory panel is sold separately. Select the panel for your upright height (18.5" or 12.5") and series (A or T) from the TRUKD panel listings.
Can I retrofit this onto an accessory panel I already own?
Yes. The hinge kit attaches to the rack upright and to your existing V2 panel. It replaces the standard faceplates on the upright. As long as your panel is the correct height (18.5" or 12.5") and your rack is the correct generation (A or T Series), no new panel purchase is needed.
Why is there an A Series and a T Series version?
The upright profiles differ between generations. A Series uprights use a 15° attachment geometry; T Series uprights use a 90° attachment. The hinge kit must match your existing rack generation — check your rack's product page or the label on the uprights if you're unsure which series you have.
How does the gas strut work — does it hold at any angle or only fully open?
The strut extends as you open the panel and holds it in the fully-raised position. It's calibrated for panels up to 80 lbs. To close, press the latch release and lower the panel — the strut controls the descent speed. TRUKD rates the strut for up to 80 lbs of panel load; panels loaded above that may not hold or may close unexpectedly.
Will the hinged panel clear my tonneau cover when open?
The hinge position is length-adjustable along the upright, which gives you clearance tuning to fit your specific cover. Confirm fit with your tonneau brand before ordering if you're running an electric or retractable hard cover — those may conflict with the panel's swing arc regardless of hinge position.
Can I mount the Side Mount on a hinged panel?
No — the TRUKD Side Mount is specifically not compatible with hinged accessory panels. Mounting a bike or kayak arm to a hinged panel puts lateral stress on the hinge bracket during transit. Side Mounts must go directly to the upright.
