The Velit 2000R Mini is one of the smallest DC rooftop air conditioners built to fit a standard 14×14 in. cutout. At 6.5 in. of exterior clearance — half an inch shorter than the full 2000R — it fits low-profile builds where rooftop clearance is tight. The twin-cylinder rotary compressor delivers 7,000 BTU at 12V and 8,500 BTU at 48V, drawing 20–50A at 12V or 5–14A at 48V. No inverter required.
The 12V version is notable for running directly off most vehicle alternators without a secondary battery — useful for short trips or builds that haven't added a house bank yet. Available in 12V or 48V only (no 24V variant). Fits the same 14×14 in. cutout as the full 2000R. Installation kit includes the AC unit, mounting brackets, sealing gasket, hardware, interior trim panel, remote, and a 15 ft wiring harness with in-line fuse (6 AWG for 12V, 12 AWG for 48V). What's the difference between the 2000R Mini and the full 2000R?
The Mini is physically smaller (6.5 in. vs. 7 in. clearance, 26 in. exterior vs. 31.5 in.) and lighter. It delivers 7,000 BTU at 12V versus 8,000 BTU for the full 2000R. The Mini only comes in 12V or 48V — there is no 24V variant. The Mini is also quieter in Eco mode (45 dB vs. 55 dB). The full 2000R is the better choice for larger spaces or builds that want more BTU headroom.
Can it run off a vehicle alternator without a battery bank?
Yes, the 12V version can run directly off most vehicle alternators — the 20–50A draw at 12V is within the output range of most modern alternators. This makes it usable during drives without a secondary house battery. For overnight off-grid use, pair it with a dedicated battery bank.
Does it fit the same cutout as the full 2000R?
Yes. Both the 2000R and 2000R Mini fit standard 14×14 in. rooftop cutouts. If you're replacing an existing rooftop AC or working from a pre-cut opening, both units are compatible. The Mini's smaller exterior footprint (approx. 26 in.) means it occupies less roof surface.
Why is there no 24V version of the Mini?
The 2000R Mini is only available in 12V and 48V. For 24V systems, the full Velit 2000R (which comes in 12V, 24V, and 48V) is the correct choice.
How quiet is it in Eco mode?
45 dB — roughly equivalent to a quiet library. This is the quietest Eco mode rating in the Velit rooftop lineup (the full 2000R runs 55 dB in Eco). For sleep-sensitive users, the Mini's noise floor is a significant advantage.
