The TRUKD T Series Overlander Bed Rack Configuration pairs 12.5" uprights on the driver side with 18.5" uprights on the passenger side, combining an 18.5" accessory panel and TRUKD Awning Mounts into one ready-to-run build. Load rating is 300 lbs driving (150 lbs per bar) and 1,000 lbs parked (500 lbs per bar). Uprights are 10-gauge 304 stainless steel; crossbars are precision-machined extruded aluminum. Textured black powder coat. Made in Pittsburgh, PA.
The asymmetric height is the point. The 12.5" driver side keeps the tent low — below cab roofline on most trucks — and leaves the bed accessible without unrigging the rack. The 18.5" passenger side gives the awning arm the clearance it needs, and the accessory panel sits at reach-in height for gear you actually want handy. Most roll-up soft tonneaus operate freely under the 12.5" side; the T-Slot variant works with Retrax ONE XR, Powertrax XR, EQ, and Roll-N-Lock M/A/E Series XT covers.

The Overlander is TRUKD's purpose-built RTT + awning configuration. It combines two upright heights into a single rack so you don't have to choose between keeping your tent low, your tonneau functional, and your awning mounted high enough to be usable.

The Overlander is the go-to build for rigs running an RTT and an awning simultaneously. The height split lets you run a side awning off the 18.5" passenger arm while the tent ladder drops clear on the 12.5" driver side — two pieces of kit deployed at once with no height conflict. Buyers also run it as a permanent base rack: accessory panel holds recovery gear or a Hi-Lift year-round, tent and awning clip on for trips and come off for daily use.

Why does one side of this rack sit higher than the other?
The height difference is intentional. The 12.5" driver side keeps the rooftop tent low — at or below cab roofline on most trucks — which reduces wind drag and keeps the tent accessible. The 18.5" passenger side gives the awning arm the clearance it needs to mount and deploy without conflict. Running both at the same height forces a compromise on one or the other; the Overlander doesn't.
Will this work with my retractable tonneau cover?
Depends on the cover and the mount option you select. The T-Slot variant is built specifically for Retrax ONE XR, Powertrax XR, EQ, and Roll-N-Lock M, A, and E Series XT covers — it uses a stud plate that slides into the cover's existing T-track. Roll-up soft covers (Truxedo TruXport, Bestop EZ Roll) work with the Utility Rail mount. Hard-fold covers that physically relocate the factory utility rails are not compatible. What rooftop tents fit, and will the tent clear my cab roof?
The 12.5" driver-side uprights are designed to keep RTT tops at or near cab roofline height on most mid-size and full-size trucks. Above-cab mounting for long cargo or a taller tent profile requires the 24.5" T Series — the Overlander is optimized for tent-below-cab clearance. For specific RTT footprint fits and crossbar spacing, contact TRUKD; crossbar spacing is not published and varies by truck model and rack configuration.
What accessories mount on the 18.5" panel?
The panel accepts ¼"-20 bolts, ½" bolts, and wide washer clamps. Confirmed compatible: RotopaX fuel/water jugs (requires backer plates for the 2" hole spacing — buy these separately before your first trip), TRUKD traction board mounts, Hi-Lift jack mounts, QuickFist clamps, propane cylinder mounts, and shovel mounts. The panel slides 2.5" in either direction for crossbar alignment — useful for dialing in RTT rail positioning, not just tonneau clearance.
How long does installation take, and do I need help?
TRUKD estimates 60–90 minutes. Real-world solo install on a first-time setup runs closer to 3–3.5 hours (OutdoorX4 review of the T Series). A second person is strongly recommended — one to hold brackets in position at correct spacing while the other torques. Loctite every fastener; the hardware kit includes blue Loctite. Bed clamp torque spec is 15 ft-lbs — do not exceed it.
Will it stay tight on rough trails?
The OutdoorX4 reviewer ran 500+ miles of Arizona washboard and 1,000+ miles of highway and needed to tighten only 3 screws total, attributed to the blue Loctite. The 10-gauge stainless uprights with a 7.5" footprint each distribute load well across the bed rail. Periodic re-torque checks are still good practice, especially after the first few off-road trips while everything settles.
Will it fit my truck if I have a short bed?
Available in 52" and 64" width. The front-to-back position is adjustable up to 12" in 2.5" increments, which accommodates most short and standard bed lengths. Compatibility is confirmed for Tacoma (short and long bed), Tundra, Gladiator, Frontier, and Titan. If your truck isn't listed, TRUKD offers the same T Series uprights individually for custom configurations.
Is this compatible with the V1 TRUKD accessory panel?
No. The 18.5" accessory panel included in the Overlander kit is a V2 component and does not bolt to V1 bracket hardware. If you're upgrading from a V1 rack, the full rack hardware needs to be replaced — the panel alone won't swap over.
