The RacksBrax HD Hitch Tradesman III is a 3-point quick-release hitch kit for mounting a pull-out awning or accessory to your roof rack. It spreads the load across three brackets instead of two, which bumps the max rating to 60 kg (20 kg per point). That third point is the whole reason this model exists: it adds a foot of effective span and 20 kg of capacity over the Tradesman II, so a longer or heavier awning sits solid instead of sagging between two mounts.

Each set of three bodies bolts to your rack; a matching set of three holders bolts to the awning. Drop the holders into the bodies, push the captive lanyard pins, and the awning locks on in seconds. Pull the pins and it lifts off just as fast. The kit fits awnings and accessories with 40-52 mm spine track spacing and M8 fasteners, which covers most shower tents, pull-out awnings, and some wing awnings. The hitches are UV-stabilized glass-reinforced nylon with stainless M8 hardware, so they shrug off sun and weather without rusting.

The kit includes a second set of three holders and a pair of HD wall mounts, so you can stow the awning on a garage wall in the off-season instead of leaving it on the roof.

Overview

The HD Hitch Tradesman III is a 3-point quick-release awning mount rated to 60 kg. Three brackets per side give you more capacity and a longer span than the 2-point Tradesman II, for heavier or longer awnings.

Key features

  • 3 mounting points; 60 kg max load (20 kg per point)
  • Fits 40-52 mm spine track spacing with M8 stainless fasteners
  • UV-stabilized glass-reinforced nylon bodies, stainless hardware
  • Captive lanyard pins with a barrel lock; on and off in seconds
  • Includes a spare set of 3 holders plus a pair of HD wall mounts for off-season storage

Use cases

Built for running a pull-out awning, shower tent, or similar accessory off a roof rack where you want it on the trail and off in the driveway. The three-point spread suits longer or heavier awnings that a two-point kit would leave under-supported, and the wall mounts let you store the awning indoors between trips.
