23Zero Onyx 270 Freestanding Awning — Left (Driver Side)
23Zero Onyx 270 Freestanding Awning — Left (Driver Side)
The 23Zero Onyx 270 Left is a freestanding 270-degree vehicle awning that opens off the driver side and throws 110 sq ft of shade in a wrap-around arc. The 6-arm aluminum box-truss frame is self-supporting in calm conditions, so one person can swing it open and stage a kitchen, gear, or a shaded crew zone in a couple of minutes. The canopy spans about 18.5 ft along the rig and reaches roughly 6.2 ft out.
The canopy is 320gsm ECO13B polycotton honeycomb canvas with 23Zero's Light Suppression Technology, which knocks down UV and keeps the shaded area cooler and darker than plain ripstop. Four 58-inch dimmable RGB LED strips are built into the frame and run off an app, so the same awning that shades you at noon turns into camp lighting after dark. An extruded aluminum backboard carries the load, and a 1680D transit cover with a #10 self-repairing zipper keeps the pack tidy on the trail.
This is the LEFT (driver-side) configuration; a right-hand version is sold separately. It bolts to a structural steel or aluminum roof or bed rack with at least 87 inches of horizontal mounting surface using the included Bracket Kit 2 (reinforced L brackets and T-bolts). Dual weather-sealed ceiling pass-throughs let you move between a rooftop tent and the awning without stepping into the weather. Note: Peregrine weather extensions and wall kits do not fit the Onyx; use Onyx-specific accessories only.

Is this the driver-side or passenger-side awning?
This is the LEFT, driver-side version. It mounts on the driver side and sweeps shade off that side of the rig. If your door and camp kitchen face the passenger side, choose the right-hand Onyx 270 instead, which is sold separately.
Can one person set it up?
Yes, in calm conditions. The 6-arm aluminum box-truss is freestanding, so a single person can swing it open in a couple of minutes. For overnight stays or windy weather, drop the six telescoping poles and stake the six guy ropes so it stays put.
What does it mount to?
A structural steel or aluminum roof or bed rack with at least 87 inches of horizontal mounting surface. The included Bracket Kit 2 uses reinforced L brackets and T-bolts. Lighter accessory bars are not enough; this is a load-bearing awning.
Does it work with a rooftop tent?
Yes. Two weather-sealed ceiling pass-through panels let you move between a rooftop tent and the awning space without stepping out into rain or sun. Note that Peregrine weather extensions and wall kits do not fit the Onyx, so stick to Onyx-specific accessories.
