Key features

• 40 CB channels plus 10 NOAA weather channels with 24/7 hazard alerts
• 4 watts on high power, 1 watt on low to conserve battery
• Included mobile adapter adds 12V power and an SO-239 jack for a standard vehicle antenna
• Dual Watch, automatic noise limiter (ANL), squelch, channel scan, and instant channels 9 and 19
• Runs on 6 AA cells with swappable alkaline and rechargeable battery cases
• Backlit LCD readable in day or night

Use cases

Off-roaders and overlanders use it as one radio for the whole trip: a handheld for scouting and camp chatter, then a mounted CB on the trail through the mobile adapter. Its portable size also lets a single radio move between vehicles in a convoy.

Does it really work as both a handheld and a mounted CB?

Yes. Run it on 6 AA batteries as a handheld walkie-talkie, or seat it in the included mobile adapter to power it from a 12V socket and feed a vehicle antenna. Same radio, two configurations.

How far will it reach?

On the stock BNC whip, plan on about 3 miles in open terrain. Plug the mobile adapter into a tuned external or vehicle antenna and clear-terrain range climbs to roughly 10 miles. Hills, trees, and buildings cut that down.

What batteries does it use, and are they included?

It takes 6 AA cells. Midland includes two swappable cases, one for alkalines and one for rechargeables, plus an AC charger and the DC mobile adapter, so you can power it three ways.

Can I run a standard vehicle CB antenna on it?

Yes, through the mobile adapter. The handheld whip uses a BNC connector; the mobile adapter adds an SO-239 jack that accepts any standard PL-259 CB antenna. Tune the antenna before keying up for best transmit performance.
