MaxTrax MkII Traction Boards (Turquoise, Pair)
MaxTrax MkII Traction Boards (Turquoise, Pair)
The MaxTrax MkII is the original recovery board, sold here as a turquoise pair. Each board is one piece of UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon measuring 45 x 13 x 3.5 inches and weighing 7.5 lb, so the pair runs 15 lb. Rows of rounded cleats bite into both the tire tread and the ground beneath it, giving a stuck rig something solid to climb out on. The pair is rated to 4,500 kg, which covers full-size trucks, vans, and loaded overland builds.
You wedge a board at the lip of each drive tire, ease onto the throttle, and drive out. No winch, no anchor point, and no second vehicle required. A shovel scoop molded into each end lets you dig out packed sand or mud before you set the board, and six handles per board make them easy to carry and reposition. The cleats are rounded on purpose so they grip tread without shredding it.
Each board carries keyhole accessory points for mounting hardware, so they ride flat on a roof rack, bed rack, or rear door. The pair stacks to just 3.5 inches tall. Turquoise reads bright against sand and snow, which makes the boards quick to spot and easy to grab when you pull over to dig in.

Overview
The MaxTrax MkII is a pair of single-piece recovery boards built from UV-stabilized engineering-grade reinforced nylon. They get a stuck vehicle moving in sand, mud, or snow without a winch or a second rig.
Key features
- Pair of full-size boards — each 45 x 13 x 3.5 in, 7.5 lb; 15 lb for the set.
- 4,500 kg rated — handles full-size trucks, vans, and loaded builds.
- Rounded cleats — bite tire tread and terrain while protecting the tread.
- Shovel ends — scoop packed sand or mud before placing the board.
- Six handles per board plus keyhole mount points for rack or door mounting.
Use cases
Single-vehicle self-recovery is the main job: sand, mud, and snow where a winch has no anchor. Owners also drop a board under a tire to bridge a deep rut or level the rig at camp, so the pair pulls double duty beyond getting unstuck.

Do these come as a pair or a single board?
A pair. SKU MTX02TQ ships two turquoise boards, the standard MaxTrax MkII set.
How much weight can they hold?
The pair is rated to 4,500 kg (about 9,900 lb), which covers full-size trucks, vans, and loaded overland rigs.
Will the cleats damage my tires?
No. The cleats are rounded so they grip the tread without shredding it. Ease onto them and you are fine.
Why do people say to drive slow on them?
Spinning the tires builds heat that can glaze or melt the cleats. Use gentle throttle, let the tire climb the board, and they last for years.
Where should I mount them?
Anywhere you can reach fast, since digging boards out of a packed load while you are stuck defeats the point. The keyhole points fit roof, bed, and rear-door mounts.
Can I use them for anything besides recovery?
Yes. Owners bridge deep ruts and level the rig at camp by setting a board under a tire.
