The MAXTRAX MkII is a pair of self-recovery traction boards molded from UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon. Each board runs 45 in long, 13 in wide, and 3.5 in tall, and weighs 7.5 lb, so the pair comes in at 15 lb. Aggressive teeth bite into your tire tread on one side and into sand, mud, or snow on the other, giving a spinning wheel a firm base to climb out on. No winch, no tow strap, no second rig needed.

Each board carries six built-in handles and a molded shovel at both ends, so you can dig out a buried tire and clear a ramp before you wedge a board under it. The double-edged design lets you slide them under a tire from either direction. The reinforced nylon flexes instead of cracking under load and has been tested to wrap fully around a 33 in tire. Material resists wheel-spin damage in normal use, and the UV stabilizer keeps the color from chalking out if you leave the boards mounted outside.

The Desert Tan colorway blends into sand and dirt instead of standing out. Two orange tell-tale leashes are included so you can find and recover the boards after a pull, even when they sink out of sight. Mounting pins and brackets are sold separately. A pair handles most stuck situations; for deep sand or heavy mud, run a set of four, one under each drive wheel. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty against faults in materials and workmanship.

Overview

The MAXTRAX MkII is a pair of vehicle recovery boards built for self-recovery in sand, mud, and snow. Glass-reinforced nylon teeth grip the tire and the ground at the same time, turning a spinning wheel into forward motion without a winch or a second vehicle.

  • Six built-in carry handles and a molded shovel at each end for digging out
  • Double-edged teeth grip in both directions; tested to wrap a 33 in tire

Use cases

Built for self-recovery when a tire digs into sand, mud, or snow. Dig a ramp with the shovel ends, slide a board under each drive wheel, and ease out under low throttle. They also work as a bridging device across ruts and soft spots, or as a stable base under a jack on loose ground.
