MaxTrax Core Soft Shackle
MaxTrax Core Soft Shackle
The MaxTrax Core is the simple, everyday soft shackle in the MaxTrax recovery lineup. It's a single loop of Ultra-High-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene with a braided polyester sheath, rated to a 14,000 kg (30,864 lb) minimum breaking strength. At 180 g and 550 mm (21.5 in) long, it weighs a fraction of a steel bow shackle and packs flat in a recovery bag or door pocket.
Use the Core where you need a strong, general-purpose connector: linking the MaxTrax Winch Ring 120, joining MaxTrax ropes and straps, or attaching to a rated vehicle recovery point. It is the "always connected" link, not the sacrificial one. The Core is distinct from the MaxTrax Fuse: the Fuse is built with a lower, precise breaking strength so it fails first and protects your recovery points and straps. During an actual vehicle recovery, a Fuse should be the weak link in the system, and the Core handles the connections that aren't meant to give.
The braided sheath shields the load-bearing core from abrasion against rock, hitch steel, and rope. Inspect it before every use and retire it if the sheath shows cuts, fraying, burns, or melting. Sold as a single shackle.

Overview
The MaxTrax Core is a 14,000 kg MBS soft shackle for everyday recovery connections. It replaces a heavy steel bow shackle with 180 g of UHMWPE rope and a protective braided sheath.
Key features
- 14,000 kg (30,864 lb) minimum breaking strength
- 180 g weight, 550 mm (21.5 in) length
- UHMWPE load-bearing core with abrasion-resistant braided polyester sheath
- Designed to pair with the MaxTrax Winch Ring 120 and MaxTrax recovery gear
- General-purpose connector, distinct from the sacrificial MaxTrax Fuse Shackle
Use cases
Use the Core to connect MaxTrax recovery components, join ropes and straps, or attach a strap to a rated vehicle recovery point. It's the lightweight, everyday alternative to a steel shackle for the connections that aren't meant to be the weak link.

What's the difference between the Core and the Fuse Shackle?
The Core is a general-purpose soft shackle with a 14,000 kg breaking strength. The Fuse has a lower, precise 7,000 kg breaking strength so it fails first and protects your recovery points and straps. Use a Fuse as the weak link during a vehicle recovery; use the Core for everyday connections like the Winch Ring 120.
How strong is the Core Shackle?
It has a 14,000 kg (30,864 lb) minimum breaking strength.
What does it work with?
It's built to pair with the MaxTrax Winch Ring 120 and MaxTrax ropes and straps, and it fits rated vehicle recovery points and most kinetic ropes or straps with a soft-shackle eye.
How much does it weigh and how long is it?
About 180 g, and 550 mm (21.5 in) long.
How do I inspect it before use?
Check the braided sheath and the core for cuts, fraying, burns, melting, or abrasion before every use. Retire the shackle if you find any of those.
