Overview
The Kotu is a compact fixed-blade tanto with a half-serrated edge, full-tang build, and a quick-release sheath. It's sized for camp chores and everyday carry, not chopping.
Key features
- 3-inch tanto blade, 5Cr15 stainless steel, titanium-coated (0.13 in thick)
- Combination edge: plain front, serrated rear for rope and strap
- Full-tang construction for prying and hard use at the tip
- Molded quick-release sheath with removable stainless belt clip
- Acetal handle with paracord slot and bottle opener
- Pointed glass-breaker pommel
- 3.7 oz bare, 5.6 oz with sheath, ~8 in overall
Use cases
Camp setup, hunting, fishing, and EDC where a small, fast-deploy fixed blade beats a folder. The body- or gear-mount sheath keeps it reachable, and the serrated section earns its keep on webbing and cordage.

What steel is the blade, and will it rust?
It's 5Cr15 stainless with a titanium coating. That's an easy-to-resharpen utility steel, not a premium edge-holder. It resists rust, but wipe it dry and put a light oil on the edge after wet use and it stays spot-free.
Is it full tang?
Yes. The steel runs the full length of the handle, so the knife takes a prying load at the tip without a weak joint.
Why a tanto tip instead of a drop-point?
The tanto's reinforced angular point is built for piercing and prying. It drives through tough material and handles point pressure that would flex or roll a thinner curved tip.
How do I carry it?
The molded sheath is quick-release with a removable stainless belt clip. It mounts to a belt, pack strap, or gear, and the knife pulls free fast for one-handed draw.
Can I baton or chop with it?
No. It's a 3-inch utility blade, not a chopper. Use it for cutting, slicing, and detail work; reach for a bigger fixed blade or hatchet when you need to baton or split wood.
What's the serrated section for?
The rear serrations bite through rope, webbing, and strap faster than a plain edge — handy for cutting line, cordage, or a stuck seatbelt-grade strap in a pinch.
