Do I need an inverter or generator to run the Velit 2000R?

No. The 2000R runs directly on DC power from your 12V, 24V, or 48V battery bank — no inverter required. Traditional RV air conditioners need 120V AC power, which means shore power or a running generator. The 2000R plugs directly into your DC system via the included wiring harness.

Which voltage should I choose — 12V, 24V, or 48V?

Match the voltage to your existing electrical system. The 12V version works with most existing van setups and can run directly off a vehicle alternator while driving (verify your alternator's output vs. the 60A max draw). The 24V and 48V versions are more efficient — the 48V variant draws only 5–18A compared to 20–60A at 12V. If you're building a new system with lithium and solar, 48V is the better choice for overnight off-grid cooling on a smaller battery bank.

Will it fit my existing rooftop cutout?

The 2000R fits any standard 14×14 in. rooftop opening with 7 in. of exterior clearance. Most Class B RVs and transit/sprinter-based builds with existing AC openings are compatible. For a new van install, the mounting brackets and sealing gasket are included — sealant is sold separately and required for uneven or curved surfaces. Flat RV roof installs do not need sealant.

How much battery capacity do I need?

At 12V, expect 20–60A draw (240–720 Wh/hr). At 48V Eco mode, draw drops to 5A or lower — a 200 Ah 48V lithium bank can sustain several hours of operation. Pair with solar for all-day and overnight off-grid use. Size your battery to the voltage version you choose.

Can it run below 40°F ambient?

No. The unit should not operate below 40°F ambient — frost can form on the evaporator coil. For winter use, pair the 2000R with a separate fuel heater. The 2000R is a cooling-only unit with no heat pump mode.

Is it loud?

55 dB in Eco mode — roughly the volume of a quiet conversation. Boost mode reaches 65 dB. Most users report it quieter than a traditional RV air conditioner at comparable BTU output.
