TRUKD T Series 6.5" Bed Rack
TRUKD T Series 6.5" Bed Rack
The TRUKD T Series 6.5" Bed Rack is built for trucks that can't give up their tonneau cover. At 6.5" of clearance, it sits just above the bed rail — low enough that most soft roll-up and tri-fold hard covers remain functional without modification. T-slot extrusion runs the full length of every crossbar, so accessories bolt anywhere without drilling or cutting.
Built from aluminum extrusion in Pittsburgh, PA. Three mount options cover 13 truck platforms: Utility Rail for trucks with factory OEM rails (Tacoma, Frontier, Gladiator, Ridgeline, Titan), Bed Clamps for smooth-rail beds with no drilling required, and T-Slot Tonneau for beds with an existing T-slot cover track already installed. Not all mount options are available for every platform — select based on your bed rail configuration.
Load rating: 300 lb driving (150 lb per bar), 1,000 lb parked (500 lb per bar). Lifetime warranty.
Not the rack for rooftop tents. Wedge and pop-up RTTs require a minimum of 24.5" of clearance — nearly four times what this rack provides. The T Series 18" and 24" are the RTT builds. The 6.5" is the tonneau-and-rack rack: weather protection stays, crossbars for accessories added.

Overview
A low-clearance aluminum bed rack for trucks running tonneau covers. At 6.5" of crossbar height, most soft roll-up and tri-fold hard covers remain fully functional — bolt on accessories via the full-length T-slot extrusion without drilling.
Key features
- 6.5" crossbar height — clears most soft roll-up and tri-fold hard tonneau covers without modification
- 300 lb driving / 1,000 lb parked load rating (150 lb / 500 lb per bar)
- T-slot extrusion, full crossbar length — bolt accessories at any position without drilling
- Three mount options — Utility Rail, Bed Clamps (no-drill), T-Slot Tonneau Cover (platform-dependent)
- 13 truck platforms, lifetime warranty, made in Pittsburgh, PA
Use cases
Tonneau-and-rack builds: buyers who want functional crossbars without giving up weatherproof bed access. The Bed Clamps option installs without drilling on smooth-rail trucks. The T-Slot Tonneau option integrates directly with existing cover tracks for a cleaner install. Standard accessories — Rack Mounted Tiedown Points, Ratchet Straps, crossbar pads — bolt directly to the T-slot extrusion for a complete cargo management setup.

Will this work with my existing tonneau cover?
Probably, but verify your cover's specs before ordering. The 6.5" crossbar height clears most soft roll-up and tri-fold hard covers without modification. Retractable hard covers and electric covers often occupy the same bed rail position the rack mounts to — confirm with your cover manufacturer or TRUKD directly if you're running a non-folding hard cover design.
Can I mount a rooftop tent on the 6.5" rack?
No — not wedge or pop-up RTTs. Those require a minimum of 24.5" of clearance, which is nearly four times what this rack provides. If you want an RTT, look at the TRUKD T Series 18" or 24". The 6.5" is purpose-built for tonneau coexistence and flat cargo transport, not elevated sleeping platforms.
What's the load rating?
300 lb driving (150 lb per bar) and 1,000 lb parked (500 lb per bar). Typical overland cargo — recovery gear, camp kits, coolers, a kayak — stays comfortably inside the driving limit. The parked rating applies to static loads staged on the rack before and after a trip.
What's the difference between Utility Rail, Bed Clamps, and T-Slot Tonneau?
Three different attachment methods for different bed configurations. Utility Rail clamps attach to the factory OEM utility rails some trucks come with (Tacoma, Frontier, Gladiator, Ridgeline, Titan). Bed Clamps clamp to the top of the bed rail on smooth-rail trucks without drilling. T-Slot Tonneau mounts slide into an existing T-slot tonneau cover track. Not all options are available for every platform — select the one that matches your bed rail setup.
Does installation require drilling?
No. All three mount options — Utility Rail, Bed Clamps, and T-Slot Tonneau — are clamp-on or track-in attachments. Mounting hardware is included.
Can I add TRUKD accessories — traction boards, straps, tiedown points?
Yes. T-slot extrusion runs the full length of every crossbar, so TRUKD T Series accessories bolt on anywhere without drilling: Rack Mounted Tiedown Points ($47), Rack Mounted Ratchet Straps ($71), Ladder Tiedown Rabbit Ears ($83), and crossbar pads all use the same T-slot hardware. The 6.5" crossbars use the same extrusion profile as the rest of the T Series family.
Is the 6.5" rack the right height for hauling a kayak or paddleboard?
For a kayak that rides on the crossbars themselves: yes, the load rating handles it and the T-slot gives you tiedown flexibility. For a paddleboard, same deal. Just check that the board doesn't extend above the cab or bed sides in a way that conflicts with the tonneau — the 6.5" height keeps the rack profile low, which helps.
