Spicy Monty's Original is the flagship Monty's recipe with heat added — 100% beef cured in Worcestershire and soy sauce, then carried through with red pepper flake, cayenne, and chili powder. An ounce runs 14 g of protein at 70 calories, so a 2 oz bag is 27 g of protein for 150 calories. Joey and Brandi Federico make it themselves in small batches at their USDA-inspected facility in Jacksonville, Florida.

The heat sits in the middle of HFM Farm's range. It's warmer than the original but nowhere near Fiery A1 or 7th Layer — the pepper builds over a few pieces instead of hitting on the first bite, and the Worcestershire-and-garlic base still reads through. Two things to know before you buy: MSG is on the ingredient list, and an ounce carries 390 mg of sodium, 17% of a day's value.

Sealed, it's shelf-stable — no cooler, no refrigeration until you open it, then eat it inside 7 days. Single 2 oz bag, or a 3-pack at 6 oz total that runs $3.98 under three singles. Contains soy.

Overview

Spicy Monty's Original takes HFM Farm's signature Worcestershire-and-soy beef jerky and layers red pepper flake, cayenne, and chili powder over it. It's a mid-heat jerky in a 2 oz shelf-stable pouch, carrying 14 g of protein per ounce.

Key features

  • 14 g protein and 70 calories per 1 oz serving; 27 g and 150 calories per 2 oz bag
  • 100% beef cured in Worcestershire and soy sauce, then spiced with red pepper flake, cayenne, and chili powder
  • Mid-tier heat — hotter than Monty's Original, well under Fiery A1 and 7th Layer
  • Shelf-stable sealed; no cooler needed until the bag is opened
  • Made in small batches by HFM Farm at their USDA-inspected facility in Jacksonville, Florida
  • Two sizes: single 2 oz bag, or a 3-pack totaling 6 oz

Use cases

This is the flavor to reach for on a long drive or a late trail day, when a plain savory jerky stops registering. It's road-trip and day-pack protein that doesn't need a cooler and won't melt in a hot rig. If you're buying for a group, it's the safe "spicy" pick — enough heat to be worth calling spicy, not enough to knock anybody out of the running.
