The MAXTRAX Mounting Pin Set X-Series is a set of four quick-release pins that bolt your MAXTRAX traction boards to a roof rack or cross-bars. Each pin is a glass-filled nylon body with stainless steel hardware, so it shrugs off trail grit, salt, and weather without seizing. One set carries four boards — one pair of MKII on the lower knuckle and one pair of X-Series stacked above — which gets bulky recovery gear off the cargo floor and out of the way.

The pins are tool-free. Push to seat, pull to release: you can pull a board at a bog and have it under a tire in seconds, then re-stack it just as fast. The head of each pin has a channel sized for a TSA-style padlock, so the boards don't walk off at a trailhead or a fuel stop. That lock deters casual theft; if your security needs run higher, run a bicycle cable lock through the stack instead.

These pins use the standard MAXTRAX mounting holes shared by X-Series and MKII boards. This kit is built for the mixed stack — a pair of each — not two pairs of the same model. Your rack or cross-bars need matching spacing to line up with the board holes, so confirm the gap before you order. One set in the box, ready to mount.

Overview

The MAXTRAX Mounting Pin Set X-Series is a four-pin, quick-release kit for mounting MAXTRAX traction boards to a roof rack or cross-bars. It carries a mixed stack of four boards — a pair of MKII plus a pair of X-Series — and accepts a TSA-style padlock.

Key features

  • Set of four quick-release pins — push to seat, pull to release, no tools.
  • Glass-filled nylon body with stainless steel hardware for corrosion resistance.
  • Carries four boards — a pair of MKII plus a pair of X-Series, stacked.
  • Pin head has a channel for a TSA-style padlock.
  • Seats in the standard mounting holes shared by X-Series and MKII boards.

Use cases

Built for overlanders who carry recovery boards externally to keep the cabin and cargo area clear. Run the full mixed stack — a pair of MKII and a pair of X-Series — on extended trips where you want four boards up top and an open cargo floor.
