The MaxTrax MkII is the original recovery board, sold here as a turquoise pair. Each board is one piece of UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon measuring 45 x 13 x 3.5 inches and weighing 7.5 lb, so the pair runs 15 lb. Rows of rounded cleats bite into both the tire tread and the ground beneath it, giving a stuck rig something solid to climb out on. The pair is rated to 4,500 kg, which covers full-size trucks, vans, and loaded overland builds.
You wedge a board at the lip of each drive tire, ease onto the throttle, and drive out. No winch, no anchor point, and no second vehicle required. A shovel scoop molded into each end lets you dig out packed sand or mud before you set the board, and six handles per board make them easy to carry and reposition. The cleats are rounded on purpose so they grip tread without shredding it.
Each board carries keyhole accessory points for mounting hardware, so they ride flat on a roof rack, bed rack, or rear door. The pair stacks to just 3.5 inches tall. Turquoise reads bright against sand and snow, which makes the boards quick to spot and easy to grab when you pull over to dig in.
