MAXTRAX MkII Titanium Grey Traction Boards (Pair)
MAXTRAX MkII Titanium Grey Traction Boards (Pair)
The MAXTRAX MkII is a pair of self-recovery boards for getting a stuck rig out of sand, mud, or snow. Each board runs 45 inches long, 13 inches wide, and 3.5 inches thick, and weighs about 7.5 lb. Aggressive cleats bite into the tire tread on top and dig into the terrain underneath, so the tire stops spinning and starts climbing. A pair is rated to recover vehicles up to roughly 10,000 lb.
The boards are injection-molded in Australia from UV-stable, engineering-grade reinforced nylon. The material flexes under a loaded tire and springs back instead of cracking. Six built-in handles make them easy to carry and position, and a shovel edge on each end clears packed snow or mud before you wedge a board under the tire. Set up right, recovery is a two-step drill: dig out the front of the tire, slide the leading edge under, ease onto the throttle.
A pair stacks down to about 3.4 inches thick, so they store flat against a wall, under a platform, or on a roof rack with the right pins. Color is Titanium Grey to match silver and light-colored vehicles. This listing is a pair (two boards).

Overview
The MAXTRAX MkII is a pair of recovery boards built for self-rescue when a tire loses grip in sand, mud, or snow. They work as both traction ramps and shovels, with no moving parts to fail.
Key features
- UV-stable engineering-grade reinforced nylon, injection-molded in Australia — flexes under load and springs back.
- 45 in × 13 in × 3.5 in per board, about 7.5 lb each (~15 lb the pair).
- Aggressive cleats grip tire tread on top and bite terrain underneath.
- Six built-in handles for carrying and placement, plus a shovel edge on each end to clear debris.
- Rated to ~10,000 lb per pair; stacks to ~3.4 in thick for storage.
Use cases
Carry a pair for sand, mud, and deep-snow self-recovery. Beyond pulling a stuck rig out, the boards double as a temporary trail surface — lay them over a soft or washed-out section to keep from bogging down in the first place.

How much vehicle weight can a pair hold?
A pair is rated for standard 4x4s around 10,000 lb (4,500 kg). They've been used on heavier expedition rigs, but for deep sand or towing you'll want two pairs.
Can I just spin the tires to power out?
No. Wheelspin burns the cleats off the top of the board and voids the warranty. Ease onto them with steady throttle and let the cleats do the work.
Do I need one pair or two?
One pair handles most recoveries. Carry two pairs (four boards) for deep sand crossings, remote desert travel, or when you're towing a trailer or boat.
How do I mount and store them?
A pair stacks to about 3.4 inches thick. Store them in a carry bag, on a rear wheel harness, or on a roof rack with mounting pins. Keep them where you can reach them fast, not buried under your gear.
Will they hold up in the sun?
Yes. The nylon is UV-stabilized to resist sun degradation, and the boards carry a lifetime warranty against material faults. Rinse grit off after sandy recoveries.
How do I actually use them?
Clear snow or mud from the front of each drive tire with the shovel edges, wedge the leading edge of a board under the tire, then ease forward onto it. The cleats grip the tread and pull you out.
