The MaxTrax MkII is a pair of vehicle recovery boards built for one job: getting a stuck 4x4 moving again. Each board is 45 inches long, 13 inches wide, and molded from UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon. The pair weighs about 15 pounds, so they ride on a rack or behind a seat without a weight penalty. The Blaze Yellow color stays easy to spot against dirt, sand, and snow.

Eighty-eight aggressive cleats per board bite into the tire tread on top and the terrain underneath, so the board doesn't slide while the tire climbs out. They work the same in sand, mud, slush, and snow, and they're rated for 4x4s around 10,000 pounds per pair. Each board carries a shovel blade on both ends and six built-in handles for digging out and placing the board fast.

They nest flat for storage and accept MaxTrax mounting pins (sold separately) for rack mounting. Lifetime warranty against material and workmanship defects.

Overview

The MaxTrax MkII is a pair of reinforced-nylon recovery boards for self-extraction in sand, snow, mud, and slush. Each board is 45 x 13 inches and weighs 7.5 pounds; the pair is about 15 pounds and is rated for 4x4s around 10,000 pounds.

Key features

  • 88 aggressive cleats per board grip tire tread and ground to stop slide
  • Shovel blade molded into both ends of each board for digging out
  • Six built-in handles per board for fast placement and carry
  • UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon construction
  • Boards nest flat and accept MaxTrax mounting pins (sold separately)

Use cases

Buyers run these for self-recovery on packed snow and alpine passes, sand-bogged beach driving, and mud or slush on forest roads. One board goes under each drive wheel; a light bump of throttle draws the boards under the tires to restore grip.
