The MaxTrax MkII is a pair of vehicle recovery boards built for one job: getting a stuck 4x4 moving again. Each board is 45 inches long, 13 inches wide, and molded from UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon. The pair weighs about 15 pounds, so they ride on a rack or behind a seat without a weight penalty. The Blaze Yellow color stays easy to spot against dirt, sand, and snow.
Eighty-eight aggressive cleats per board bite into the tire tread on top and the terrain underneath, so the board doesn't slide while the tire climbs out. They work the same in sand, mud, slush, and snow, and they're rated for 4x4s around 10,000 pounds per pair. Each board carries a shovel blade on both ends and six built-in handles for digging out and placing the board fast.
They nest flat for storage and accept MaxTrax mounting pins (sold separately) for rack mounting. Lifetime warranty against material and workmanship defects.

Is this one board or a pair?
It's a pair: two boards, SKU MTX02BY. You place one under each drive wheel.
What vehicle weight can they handle?
They're designed for 4x4s around 10,000 pounds per pair. Heavier rigs can use them with careful, low-throttle technique.
Do they work in snow, or only sand?
Both. They grip in sand, snow, mud, slush, and pea gravel. They hold up in deep cold and feet of snow as well as on a hot beach.
Why shouldn't I spin my wheels on them?
Spinning your wheels generates friction that melts the cleats and voids the warranty. Ease onto the throttle and let the cleats do the work instead.
Can I use them as a bridge across ruts or rocks?
They aren't designed as a bridging ladder. Nested together they can span a short gap, but that's outside their intended recovery use.
Do they come with mounting hardware?
No. The pair ships on its own. MaxTrax mounting pins (17 mm or 40 mm, sold separately) let you mount them to a rack.
