The MAXTRAX MkII is a pair of vehicle recovery boards in matte black, each one 45 inches long, 13 inches wide, and 3.5 inches tall. They stack flat for storage and weigh 7.5 pounds apiece — 15 pounds for the set. The boards are molded from UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon, so they live mounted outside year-round without the sun chewing them up. The board flexes enough to wrap a 33-inch tire and snap back, which is what lets the molded lugs bite instead of crack.

Recovery is single-vehicle and tool-free. Wedge a board against the tread of a buried tire, idle forward in low gear, and the double-edged ramp self-feeds under the tire and lifts it onto the lugs. Six built-in handles make them easy to carry and reposition with gloves on, and there's a shovel molded into each end for clearing sand or mud before you set the board. Works in sand, mud, and snow under 4WDs, trucks, vans, and even ATV/UTV and snowmobile recoveries.

Each board carries molded keyhole accessory points for MAXTRAX mounting pins (sold separately), which fit common roof and bed racks from Front Runner, Rhino-Rack, Prinsu, and others. The pair ships with two orange telltale leashes so you can find a board if it gets buried during recovery. Backed by a limited lifetime warranty against faults in materials and workmanship.

Overview

A pair of MAXTRAX MkII recovery boards in black. Each board is a 7.5-pound, 45-inch molded nylon ramp that gets a stuck 4WD, truck, or van moving again without a winch or a second vehicle.

Key features

  • Sold as a pair: two boards plus two orange telltale leashes, 15 lb for the set.
  • Molded from UV-stabilized, engineering-grade reinforced nylon; flexes to wrap a 33-inch tire without breaking.
  • Six built-in carry handles per board and a shovel molded into each end for clearing terrain.
  • Double-edged ramp design self-feeds under the tire at idle — no jacking, no spinning.
  • Keyhole accessory points accept MAXTRAX mounting pins (sold separately) for roof- and bed-rack mounting.

Use cases

Self-recovery is the core job: bog down in sand, mud, or snow, wedge a board under each drive tire, and drive out. Because they stack to 3.5 inches and mount flat to a rack, most owners run them as permanent trail insurance rather than packing them only for known-rough trips. The end shovels also do double duty, digging out a tire before you even place the board.
