The Balta is a 9.5-inch full-tang camp hatchet with a 3.25-inch 420 stainless blade and a stonewash finish. The head and body are one piece of steel, so there's no socket joint to work loose at the eye. It weighs 22 oz (624 g) with the sheath on — light enough to ride in a moto pannier or pack lid, heavy enough to bite into kindling.

The flat poll is built to swing as a hammer for driving tent stakes into hard-packed ground, and a stake puller on the head yanks them back out at teardown. The handle is wrapped in a textured rubber grip that holds in wet weather and through gloves. This is a kindling-and-camp-chore hatchet, not a felling axe or a splitting maul — keep the heavy batoning for a dedicated tool.

It ships with a protective sheath that has a belt clip and a retaining strap, so the edge stays covered in your pack and the hatchet rides on your belt when you're working a fire ring.

Use cases

Buyers run the Balta for moto-camping and overland fire prep — cutting kindling, splitting small limbs, driving and pulling tent stakes, and general camp work. The 22 oz weight and 9.5-inch length keep it pannier- and pack-friendly without giving up enough mass to chop.
