DMOS Nomad Pro Shovel
DMOS Nomad Pro Shovel
The Nomad Pro is DMOS's compact, take-anywhere shovel — 2 lb, 33" extended, 17.5" packed. Second generation of their lightweight aluminum platform: same form factor as the original Nomad, more than 2× the weld strength, with a fully integrated shaft-to-blade joint and a re-tuned blade angle for better digging ergonomics.
Built for the jobs lightweight shovels actually do: digging soil in the woods, sand at the beach, snow in the mountains. Two-piece push-button assembly stows in the included sling bag with a shoulder strap — it lives in a camp kit, on a roof rack, or in the back of an SUV without rattling.
What it's not: a pry bar. The aluminum gives you a real digging tool at a weight you'll actually carry; it's not meant for levering rocks or breaking compacted ground. For heavier recovery work, look at the DMOS Delta Pro.

Overview
Compact 2-piece shovel built around an 8-gauge 6061 aluminum blade and shaft. Anodized finish, stainless-steel pin connectors, 33" extended length, 2 lb. Packs to 17.5" × 8.5" × 2.4" in the included two-compartment sling bag.
Key features
- Integrated shaft-to-blade — fully welded, not bolt-up. 60% more weld area than the original Nomad, more than 2× the strength at the same weight.
- Push-button reassembly — two buttons, fits together in seconds. No tools, no loose hardware.
- Re-tuned blade angle — ergonomics tweaked for digging from kneeling or standing.
- Anodized 6061 aluminum — aerospace-grade, corrosion-resistant. Lives outdoors without rusting.
- Carry kit included — two-compartment sling bag with shoulder strap.
- Built-in bottle opener — because the campsite needs it.

Camp setup, fire-pit prep, leave-no-trace cleanup. Beach trips. Light overlanding for terrain prep — not vehicle recovery (see the Delta Pro for that). River and fishing trips. Light snow clearing in the mountains.

Will it handle heavy use, or is it just for light digging?
Real digging — yes. Soil, sand, snow, in the field. The Pro doubles the weld strength of the original Nomad and uses 8-gauge 6061 aluminum, so it stands up to actual loads. What it isn't: a pry bar. Don't lever rocks, split frozen ground, or break apart compacted debris with it. For heavier recovery work — including vehicle recovery — look at the Delta Pro instead.
How is the Nomad Pro different from the original Nomad?
Same compact form, more than 2× the strength. The Pro fully integrates the shaft into the blade head (vs the original's bolt-up join), the weld area is 60% larger, and the blade angle is re-tuned for better digging ergonomics. The material steps up to 8-gauge 6061 aluminum (the original used 5052). Packed size, extended length, and weight stay the same — you get more durable hardware in the exact same form factor.
What's it actually good for?
Soil, sand, and snow — woods, beach, mountains. Camping, overlanding (light terrain prep), beach trips, fishing and river trips, leave-no-trace cleanup. Anywhere you want a real shovel without the weight of a full-size one.
How does it pack? Will it fit in my rig?
17.5" × 8.5" × 2.4" when packed. Two-piece break-down: the shaft pulls off the head, two push buttons reconnect it for use, giving you 33" full-length. Ships with a two-compartment sling bag with a shoulder strap, so it stows quietly on a roof rack, in a camp kit, or in a beach bag without rattling around.
What's the build, and how rust-resistant is it?
Blade and shaft are 8-gauge 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum, anodized. The pins and spring that hold the two pieces together are stainless steel. Anodized 6061 doesn't rust — leave it on a rooftop tent platform exposed to weather and it won't corrode.
What's the warranty?
3-year warranty against manufacturing defects, direct from DMOS.
Nomad Pro vs the Delta Pro — which one should I get?
Different jobs. The Nomad Pro is the compact, take-anywhere shovel — 2 lb, packs to 17.5", designed for camping, beach, and light overland work. The Delta Pro is the full-size recovery shovel — 4 lb, telescoping to 51", three blade modes (shovel/hoe/stow), rated for 1000+ lb payload. If your shovel lives in your camp kit, get the Nomad Pro. If it lives on your overland rig for vehicle recovery, get the Delta Pro.
