Armadillo Horizon 2 Hardshell Tent (Left Only)

Overview

The Armadillo Horizon 2 is a welded-aluminum hardshell rooftop tent for two, built for fast setup and 4-season use. Left-open-only orientation.

Key features

• 14-gauge fully welded aluminum shell with aero corners; ~205 lb with rails and ladder
• Gas-strut high-opening hinge — clamshell lifts itself in under a minute
• 51 in x 78 in sleeping floor, 43 in peak, 2.5 in self-inflating mattress with dual fill ports
• 4.5 in duct port for a diesel heater or portable AC, plus a snow pole for winter loads
• 43 in USB LED light bar and prewired 12V/USB-A/USB-C power module
• Six-pocket gear loft and boot bag included

Use cases

Built for all-season overland basecamps where a soft-shell's pole-and-rainfly routine gets old. The welded shell and heater port keep it usable into winter, and the gas-strut opening makes quick highway-to-camp stops painless. Left-open layout suits rigs running an awning or annex off the passenger side.

How fast does it open?

The hardshell rides on gas struts. Pop the latches and the clamshell lifts on its own in under a minute — no poles to thread. One person can pull it shut to close.

Will my roof rack handle it?

The tent runs about 205 lb. Confirm your crossbars carry that as a dynamic (driving) load and that your roof's static rating holds the tent plus two sleepers when parked. The T-slot rails on top of the tent carry another 50 lb.

Can I run a heater inside?

Yes. A 4.5 in duct port with a drawstring closure feeds a diesel heater or portable AC hose into the cabin. Paired with the welded shell and snow pole, that's what makes it a true 4-season tent.

What does "Left Only" mean?

This unit opens to the driver/left side only. Pick your orientation based on where you want clearance and how your awning or annex is laid out.

What's included?

Ladder, T-slot mounting rails and hardware, window poles, snow pole, a six-pocket gear loft, and a boot bag. Inside you get the LED light bar and the prewired 12V/USB power module.

How do I keep the mattress and canopy in good shape?

Let the 2.5 in self-inflating mattress breathe before you button it up, and make sure the canopy is dry before a long-term close so you don't trap moisture under the shell.
